The wisteria is blooming...

And it has the most beautiful scent. Is it always the way, or is this spring more blessed with blossom than others?
In between admiring the wisteria and my bed of tulips -- the latter have survived the squirrels for the first year ever -- I'm watering the pots on the patio, watching the poppy seeds emerge, and the green shoots of lilies and agapanthus.
Wishing everybody a very happy Easter. I'm going to read Sybille Bedford ('A Legacy'), and eat a great deal of chocolate.

Happy Easter!

Wisteria always makes me think of "Enchanted April." I never fail to be cheered up by the words "To Those who Appreciate Wistaria and Sunshine. Small mediaeval Italian Castle...to be let."

It has been such a long winter that it's true, the flowers do seem more abundant than ever, or do we say this every year and then forget?

Happy Easter! The wisteria is out here too, and so wonderful.

Happy Easter Justine, hope you are enjoying the Easter gifts of sunshine, flowers and confectionary.

I have been sitting in my garden this morning, drinking tea and admiring the lush greens and the abundant flowers, maybe we do say this every year and forget, as Kairu says, but I don't suppose anyone minds us repeating our thankfulness for being the recipient of the glorious displays of nature.

Dear Justine,
I've also been spending a lot of time in my small garden amongst the Currawongs, tea-tree, overgrown roses and geraniums. The Autumn light is perfect in Sydney. I've been nibbling away at chocolate, researching Australian artists in the 1940's for my current book and watching lots of Mad Men. Happy Easter to you. xx

Was wandering round the shopping centre in one of our more upmarket suburbs here in Hobart today and noticed a new dress/accessories shop which had a Paris/France theme. Immediately noticed several copies of Coco displayed on the shelves among lovely soft leather gloves and silky scarves. They looked right at home!

How thrilling to know that Coco is in Hobart; thanks so much for letting me know. And thank you to everyone else for your comments, which I have read with great pleasure, and I hope you all had a very happy Easter. (I've had a few gloomy ones in the past; so I know it isn't a necessarily joyful time of year. Something sad about Good Fridays, in particular...) But this year was lovely -- photos to follow -- with much chocolate, contentment, and Sybille Bedford.
Now, I'm off to find out more about 'Enchanted April', inspired by Kairu...

By the way, does anyone know which is the most reliable scented lilac to plant in my garden? I'm hoping Lilacs in May can recommend a good one...

Enchanted April and Elizabeth in her German Garden are both written by Elizabeth von Arnim and Enchanted April was so beautifully filmed. It is visually superb. Do try to read both books.

I'm going to order them both now -- thank you.
